Jing Picks: Coach x Jennifer Yan China Exclusive Handbag

Special Handbag Available In China Online And In Stores This Month

Coach by Jennifer Yan

Premium American brand Coach, which currently looms large in China’s “affordable luxury” segment, continues to show a knack for marketing in what has become one of its critical global markets. Recently, as part of season four of the popular Chinese reality show “Creative Sky” (创意星空) — a “Project Runway”-like competition program aimed at finding the brightest young Chinese design talent — China-born, Sweden-raised, Central Saint Martins-educated contestant Jennifer Yan (严韬) won the “Coach Award” challenge.

One of the show’s four prizes — along with others sponsored by Parsons The New School of Design, Vogue magazine, and Uoofo.com — the Coach award came with the opportunity to visit Coach’s headquarters in New York City and design a China-only, special-edition handbag with the in-house design team. Later this month, Yan’s handbag will be available in limited quantities on the Coach China online store and in the brand’s China boutiques.

Aside from her Coach handbag, a limited-edition outfit designed by Yan is available right now as part of the “Creative Sky” collection on Uoofo. Clearly, this is one young designer to watch in 2013.
